Could children in Years 1, 2, 3 & 4 please make sure they have their P.E. kit in school on sports day with a top the colour of their house: Endeavour - yellow, Voyager - blue, Explorer - green and Challenger - red. Thank you for your continued support.
Due to a change of staffing in Year 3 we have changed the date of the assembly to Friday 16th July 2010, sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
The Year 1 assembly which was postponed due to illness is now to be held on Friday 9th July and Year 2 remains the same on Thursday 8th July. All assemblies will begin at 9.10am. We hope to see everyone there!

Your child's class teacher invites you into school on either Tuesday 23rd or Wednesday 24th March from 3.30pm onwards to talk through your child's progress. Appointment charts will be outside the classrooms from Tuesday 16th March so anyone who would like to come along can sign up to a time slot.

Our Year 3 activity morning is on Thursday 25th February 2010 at 10.00am. All family and friends are invited to come along and enjoy some time in class with your child. Hope to see you there.
We would like to offer our children in Year 3 and Year 4 the opportunity to visit Robinwood Activity Centre for 3 days in June. For further details please see a member of staff.
On Friday 18th December school will close at 1.30pm for the Christmas break. PLEASE NOTE: There will be no afternoon Nursery session on Friday 18th December. School will re-open on Tuesday 5th January.

School will provide a drink of juice for all children, could parents please provide some food. So we have a variety, could boys please bring sweet items and girls bring savoury. Thank you. Children are allowed to come to school in their party clothes on those days or they can bring them to change into.
Just a reminder that our children will be working on a whole school Eco project next week. Each class will have a different focus:
Nursery/Reception - Endangered Species
Year 1 - Rainforests
Year 2 - Water Conservation
Year 3 - Recycling
Year 4 - Newsroom - reporting on events in school.
If you can help your child find any information for their project, that would be very helpful.
Also, please remember to keep collecting your junk for our model competition and send it into school.
A named sweatshirt has been misplaced by a child in Year 3, it has our school logo on and age 7-8. If your child has taken it home by mistake please return it to school as soon as possible.
Could you please make sure, if you have not already done so, your child's consent slip and payment is sent into school on Monday morning as your child will not be allowed to attend the trip without them. Thank you.
Our Harvest Festival services will be held on Friday 16th October at Bedlington Colliery Methodist Church. For our KS2 children (Years 3 & 4) the service will be at 10.00am and for Reception and KS1 (Years 1 & 2) the service will be at 1.30pm. Family and friends are welcome to attend either service, please meet us at the Church. We hope to see you all there!
Your child's class teacher would like to invite you into school on the evenings of either Tuesday 13th or Wednesday 14th October to discuss your child's progress. From Monday 5th October there will be appointment sheets outside your child's classroom so you can sign up for an appointment.
Our Year 3 children need newspapers next week to build bridges! Anyone who has any please send them into school as soon as possible. Thank you.

Our sports day will be held on Thursday 16th July at 1.30pm (weather permitting!) for all children in main school. Could you please ensure that your child's consent form is returned to school on Monday morning for the tennis festival as your child will not be allowed to attend without it. Thank you.
Our Year 3 children are opening their own café. The children will be making their own produce to sell in the café, such as muffins, smoothies and flapjack. The café will be open from 1.00-2.30pm on Tuesday 21st July 2009. All parents/carers are invited from any children in our school and if you visit the café your child will be allowed out of their class to join you for an afternoon snack. Tickets for the café are 50p per adult and this entitles you to unlimited tea or coffee for that afternoon - please call at the school office for more information.. Other items will have a small charge. We hope to see you all there! (Please note: spaces are limited so please buy your tickets early to avoid disappointment!)
Our Year 3 assembly is now to be held on Wednesday 15th July at 9.15am not Thursday 16th July as previously stated. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
On Thursday 2nd April 2009 we are holding our Easter services:
• Our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 service is to be held at Bedlington Colliery Methodist Church at 10am where parents are welcome to attend.
• Our Year 3 and Year 4 service is at 2pm in the school hall where parents are also welcome to attend. (Any parent wanting to take their children home after the afternoon service is welcome to do so).
There are still some appointments available for Parent's Evening next Monday and Tuesday so please see appointment chart for times.
As a staff, we are very keen to reward good work and celebrate excellent behaviour. Following the Easter holidays, we will be introducing a new 'house point' system at Stead Lane. The children will be divided into four 'houses' or teams. Each week merits will be earned for good behaviour, effort, work etc. Individually children will work towards earning Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates. Collectively each team will be competing to win a house treat which the children will choose.
TEAM NAME COMPETITION
We have chosen a 'Space' theme for our teams. Each team will be represented by a different coloured rocket. And now for your cooperation - can you or your child think of four imaginative names for our teams. If so, please complete the slip attached and return to school. A prize will be awarded for the winning suggestion

Following the success of our coffee morning this week, we look forward to an excellent turn out for our parent classes which start next Thursday, 9.00 – 10.30am. A free crèche facility is available on site for parents with pre-school age children.

If you have not already done so, please make sure that your child brings their reply slip and £2.00 on Wednesday 7th January for the visit to Sunderland Winter Gardens on Thursday 8th January, as your child will not be allowed to attend the trip without your consent.

There will be an early riser’s football club held at school on Thursday mornings. Any child from Years 2, 3 or 4 who is interested needs to return the reply slip which can be downloaded below.

On Monday 3rd November Year 1 are to visit Blyth Fire Station, on Tuesday 4th November Year 3 are to visit Woodhorn Colliery and on Wednesday 5th November Year 4 are to visit Arbeia Roman Fort. If you have not already returned your child’s reply slip for any of these trips, please do so as soon as possible. Thank you.

All of next week is ‘Looking After Ourselves’ week at Stead Lane and the children will be taking part in various activities so will need their full P.E. kit every day, suitable for indoors and outdoors. We are always trying to encourage the children to eat healthily and next week will be awarding the healthiest packed lunch with a prize. We have various leaflets to share with parents/carers and these will be displayed every day at 3.00pm in the hall.

As detailed in last week’s newsletter, we are holding our Parent’s evenings on Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th October. Times are still available with your child’s teacher, so please sign up outside their classroom every day from 3.00pm.
Following the success of our residential last term, we are proposing a return visit to Dukeshouse Wood Centre, Hexham, next summer. By booking early, I’ve secured another excellent deal for our children in Years 3 & 4. Please call at the school office for a letter with information regarding our meeting, if you have not already received one.
Please make sure all children have their named P.E. kits on Wednesdays and Fridays.
There will be a final opportunity to claim any lost property in the school hall on Monday 21st July at 3.00pm. Any unclaimed items will be disposed of after this time.
School will close on Wednesday 23rd July at 1.30pm for the summer break and there will be no afternoon Nursery session on this day. Please fill out a reply slip (available from the office) so we know you are aware of this. Thank you.

On Wednesday 11th June children in Years 3 & 4 will be taking part in a ‘National Walking Bus Guiness Book of Records Challenge’. Children all around the county will be walking around their local area on Wednesday to promote walking to school.
Key Stage 1 held their Easter service at Bedlington Colliery Methodist church.
While Key Stage 2 held theirs in the school hall.
Year 3 visited the Museum of Antiquities and looked at the displas on Ancient Greece. Andrew told us lots of interesting facts and we had the chance to dress as a Greek hoplite.

Our children had an exiting time on the 'Pride of Wansbeck' bus tour. We toured around our local area and earned lots of interesting things about where we live. We visited the iron works in Bedlington, the recycling centre at North Seaton, Newbiggin and Bothal.
Year 3 invited their families to join them for a Greek themes activity morning. There was food tasting and a chance to create your own mask or shield followed by refreshments. Everyone had freat fun!
