Your child's class teacher invites you into school on either Tuesday 23rd or Wednesday 24th March from 3.30pm onwards to talk through your child's progress. Appointment charts will be outside the classrooms from Tuesday 16th March so anyone who would like to come along can sign up to a time slot.
Lots of our parents and grandparents joined us for our activity morning. We made scenes from Hansel and Gretel.
On Friday 18th December school will close at 1.30pm for the Christmas break. PLEASE NOTE: There will be no afternoon Nursery session on Friday 18th December. School will re-open on Tuesday 5th January.
Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 invite all families and friends into our school at 2.00pm on Wednesday 16th December to sing 'Carols Around the Christmas Tree'.

School will provide a drink of juice for all children, could parents please provide some food. So we have a variety, could boys please bring sweet items and girls bring savoury. Thank you. Children are allowed to come to school in their party clothes on those days or they can bring them to change into.

Year 2 - Water Conservation
Year 3 - Recycling
Year 4 - Newsroom - reporting on events in school.
If you can help your child find any information for their project, that would be very helpful.
Also, please remember to keep collecting your junk for our model competition and send it into school.
We have had a case of head lice reported in our school, this time in Year 1. Could we just remind all parents/carers of the importance of checking your child's hair regularly and treating any found immediately. Thank you.
Our Year 1 children need cardboard boxes for an activity they will be doing on Tuesday, please send any into school with your child before then. Thank you.
Our Harvest Festival services will be held on Friday 16th October at Bedlington Colliery Methodist Church. For our KS2 children (Years 3 & 4) the service will be at 10.00am and for Reception and KS1 (Years 1 & 2) the service will be at 1.30pm. Family and friends are welcome to attend either service, please meet us at the Church. We hope to see you all there!

We would like all children to bring a top in the colour of their house to wear along with their P.E. shorts for the sports afternoon. As part of our Enterprise week beginning Monday 1st June 2009 we are encouraging the children to think about 'What I want to be when I grow up' and to look into this further we have arranged visits for our Year 1 children to Blyth Fire Station and QEII Park & Hotel in Ashington to see the jobs people do there. These visits are funded by WEEN but we do need your consent to take your child out of school on these days so please click on the links below to print a copy of the forms or call at the school office. We have received information regarding football coaching for children in Year 1 with Whitley Bay Boys Club. If anyone is interested please call at the school office for more information.
For those who have not already done so could you please hand in your completed reply slip and payment as soon as possible as your child will not be allowed to attend the trip without this consent. Spare copies are available from the school office if needed. Thank you.
Year 1 will be having a special visitor to look at earthworms and to help us we need as many 750ml bottles as possible and any other size plastic bottles. Please bring in any you have spare and hand them to a member of staff. Thank you.
On Thursday 2nd April 2009 we are holding our Easter services:
• Our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 service is to be held at Bedlington Colliery Methodist Church at 10am where parents are welcome to attend.
• Our Year 3 and Year 4 service is at 2pm in the school hall where parents are also welcome to attend. (Any parent wanting to take their children home after the afternoon service is welcome to do so).
There are still some appointments available for Parent's Evening next Monday and Tuesday so please see appointment chart for times.
As a staff, we are very keen to reward good work and celebrate excellent behaviour. Following the Easter holidays, we will be introducing a new 'house point' system at Stead Lane. The children will be divided into four 'houses' or teams. Each week merits will be earned for good behaviour, effort, work etc. Individually children will work towards earning Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates. Collectively each team will be competing to win a house treat which the children will choose.
TEAM NAME COMPETITION
We have chosen a 'Space' theme for our teams. Each team will be represented by a different coloured rocket. And now for your cooperation - can you or your child think of four imaginative names for our teams. If so, please complete the slip attached and return to school. A prize will be awarded for the winning suggestion

Following the success of our coffee morning this week, we look forward to an excellent turn out for our parent classes which start next Thursday, 9.00 – 10.30am. A free crèche facility is available on site for parents with pre-school age children.

We are in the process of planning a visit to Newbiggin for Monday 12th January for our Year 1 children. Your child will receive information regarding the visit on our first day back.

Mrs Wing leaves today to begin her maternity leave, we wish her all the very best. Mr Eckford will be our new Year 1 teacher after the half term break.
In Year 1, 2 cardigans and a P.E. kit have gone missing. Please check that your child has not picked up someone else’s items instead of their own and return any to school as soon as possible. Thank you.
All of next week is ‘Looking After Ourselves’ week at Stead Lane and the children will be taking part in various activities so will need their full P.E. kit every day, suitable for indoors and outdoors. We are always trying to encourage the children to eat healthily and next week will be awarding the healthiest packed lunch with a prize. We have various leaflets to share with parents/carers and these will be displayed every day at 3.00pm in the hall.

We had great fun at the Blue Reef Aquarium in Tynemouth. We looked at all of the different types of sea life - some big and some small then we went to the touch pool and were able to feel a starfish and a crab! After eating our lunch outside we went onto Tynemouth beach and looked for rocks and shells.
Year 1 are to visit Blue Reef Aquarium on Tuesday 20th May. Please call at the school office if you need more details.
Key Stage 1 held their Easter service at Bedlington Colliery Methodist church.
While Key Stage 2 held theirs in the school hall.
Our children had an exiting time on the 'Pride of Wansbeck' bus tour. We toured around our local area and earned lots of interesting things about where we live. We visited the iron works in Bedlington, the recycling centre at North Seaton, Newbiggin and Bothal.
Year 1 invited their families to join them for a busy activity morning. They continued their topic of ‘Fruit-tastic’ and planted pansies, made paper flowers and decorated fruit words.
