Our Nursery children would like to invite their families into our school at 10.30am for morning chidren and 2.00pm for afternoon children on Thursday 25th March to join them in an activity in their classroom. We hope to see you all there!

Your child's class teacher invites you into school on either Tuesday 23rd or Wednesday 24th March from 3.30pm onwards to talk through your child's progress. Appointment charts will be outside the classrooms from Tuesday 16th March so anyone who would like to come along can sign up to a time slot.

Please note: Nursery starts at 9.00am for our morning session and 12.30pm for our afternoon session, please arrive before this to ensure we begin on time. Thank you.
We are learning about animals this half term and Mrs Rowley has been talking to the children about their pets. If your child has a pet we would appreciate it if you could send in a photograph to share with the class.
Reminder to Nursery parents - funds are running low for bread and classroom resources, if all parents could spare 50p a week we would be very grateful.

One left black Clarks shoe, size 8F with 1 velcro leather strap has gone missing from our Reception class, your child may have taken it by mistake so please check all shoes and swap it if found. Thank you.
We also are missing a blue and white striped scarf in Nursery, please check your child has not taken it home by mistake and return it to a member of staff if found. Thank you.

On Friday 18th December school will close at 1.30pm for the Christmas break. PLEASE NOTE: There will be no afternoon Nursery session on Friday 18th December. School will re-open on Tuesday 5th January.

The class Christmas parties are to be held as follows:
Nursery & Reception - Monday 14th December (NO MORNING NURSERY SESSION ON THIS DAY - ALL CHILDREN TO ATTEND IN THE AFTERNOON PLEASE)Years 1 & 2 - Tuesday 15th December
Years 3 & 4 - Thursday 17th December
School will provide a drink of juice for all children, could parents please provide some food. So we have a variety, could boys please bring sweet items and girls bring savoury. Thank you. Children are allowed to come to school in their party clothes on those days or they can bring them to change into.

Our Nursery children will be enjoying their Christmas party altogether with our Reception class during the afternoon of Monday 14th December. There will be no morning Nursery session on this day. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Our Nursery would welcome any boys trousers sized 2-3 and 3-4 years. Please hand any to a member of staff. Thank you.

Just a reminder that our children will be working on a whole school Eco project next week. Each class will have a different focus:
Nursery/Reception - Endangered Species
Year 1 - Rainforests
Year 2 - Water Conservation
Year 3 - Recycling
Year 4 - Newsroom - reporting on events in school.
If you can help your child find any information for their project, that would be very helpful.
Also, please remember to keep collecting your junk for our model competition and send it into school.

A named blue Thomas the Tank Engine bag with red & yellow handles containing clothes has gone missing from Nursery. If you have picked it up by mistake please return it to school as soon as possible.

Nursery would like old shoe boxes. Please hand any to a member of staff.

We all had great fun at our Sports Day despite the weather!

Our PEEPS Nursery group held a party during their last session. Thank you to everyone for their support throughout the sessions.

A reminder that our Nursery children are holding their sports day on Tuesday 7th July 2009 at 10.00am for morning children and 1.30pm for afternoon children. There will also be some fundraising events during the day so don't forget your purses!

Mrs Mallin leaves us next Friday to start her maternity leave and we all wish her lots of luck with her new baby, Miss Collingwood will be in Nursery with Mrs Athey until the end of the school year.

As a staff, we are very keen to reward good work and celebrate excellent behaviour. Following the Easter holidays, we will be introducing a new 'house point' system at Stead Lane. The children will be divided into four 'houses' or teams. Each week merits will be earned for good behaviour, effort, work etc. Individually children will work towards earning Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates. Collectively each team will be competing to win a house treat which the children will choose.

TEAM NAME COMPETITION
We have chosen a 'Space' theme for our teams. Each team will be represented by a different coloured rocket. And now for your cooperation - can you or your child think of four imaginative names for our teams. If so, please complete the slip attached and return to school. A prize will be awarded for the winning suggestion

We are looking for various items for our outdoor area - we need tyres, drainpipes, scaffolding planks and plumbing materials which are large enough for the children to work with but have no sharp edges. If anyone has any of these items and could bring them into Nursery/Reception we would be most grateful. Thank you.

Thank you to all parents who attended our fundraising event on 12th February, we raised £253.28 which will go towards buying waterproofs and wellies for most children.
We still have some unclaimed raffle prizes so please check the lists on Nursery and Reception doors to see if you have been lucky - all prizes must be claimed on or before Friday 6th March 2009.

We appreciate that most of our parents provide warm, waterproof clothing but that it can be distressing and time consuming to keep this clothing dry and clean. In order to overcome this problem we would like your help in raising some funds to buy waterproof trousers and coats for all our foundation stage children. We would like to invite you to our fundraising day on Thursday 12th February. We will be holding 2 sessions - one at 10.30am and the other at 2.00pm (we are aware that there are other events on at this time so we would welcome your attendance at either session).
We would also welcome any donations you can provide for tombola and raffle stalls.

Could we please remind parents that children need wellies whenever possible brought into school in a bag to be kept on their peg. The outside play area is very muddy at the moment and we only have a limited number of spares which means some children are not able to go out. Could Nursery children also bring a change of clothes so that in the event of a fall they can be changed. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Next Friday, 30th January, Nursery are having a ‘Creative Day’ and would love you to come along and have some fun with your child. You can make junk models, paint, draw, build things out of lego – whatever you and your child would like to do together!
To enable you to have as much fun as possible, learning and playing with your child we’d appreciate it if you could make alternative childcare arranements for younger brothers/sisters.
Please let Mrs. Mallin or Mrs. Athey know if you would like to come. Could parents/carers please arrive at 10.30am for our morning Nursery session and 2.00pm for our afternoon Nursery session. Please bring children at their normal starting time.

Could we please ask our Nursery and Reception parents/carers to make sure that while waiting for Nursery gate to open that the pathway for our main school children and parents is not blocked. We realise your need for waiting in the gate area but if you could please move near to the fence or form a line along the pathway towards the main school entrance this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Nursery are holding their Sing-a-longs on Friday 12th December at 10.30am for morning children and 2.00pm for afternoon children. All family members are welcome to attend.

From next week our Nursery children will be offered toast at the beginning of each Nursery session. Payment for this will come from our Nursery fund. Thank you to all parents who donate.

A reminder that Nursery are holding their Christmas party on Monday 15th December from 12.30 – 3.00pm for all Nursery children. There will be no morning Nursery session on this day.

Could all Nursery parents please remember to send your child in warm waterproof clothing and if you haven’t already done so, please send wellies in everyday. Thank you for your cooperation.

All of next week is ‘Looking After Ourselves’ week at Stead Lane and the children will be taking part in various activities so will need their full P.E. kit every day, suitable for indoors and outdoors. We are always trying to encourage the children to eat healthily and next week will be awarding the healthiest packed lunch with a prize. We have various leaflets to share with parents/carers and these will be displayed every day at 3.00pm in the hall.

From September 08 the children in Nursery and Reception will be following a new curriculum (EYFS). This will mean that the children will be spending more time outdoors (in various weather conditions). We do have some supplies of waterproof clothing but it would be much appreciated if all children could be provided with warm, waterproof outdoor clothing and a supply of spare clothes (particularly socks and trousers). Thank you for your co-operation.

We had a party to say farewell to our friends who are moving up into Reception in September. Mrs Olsen and Mrs Athey would like to say a big thank you for all of your support and all of the lovely presents they received. Happy holidays!!

There will be a final opportunity to claim any lost property in the school hall on Monday 21st July at 3.00pm. Any unclaimed items will be disposed of after this time.

School will close on Wednesday 23rd July at 1.30pm for the summer break and there will be no afternoon Nursery session on this day. Please fill out a reply slip (available from the office) so we know you are aware of this. Thank you.

Our Nursery children enjoyed a 'Teddy Bear's Picnic' in the special woods next to our school! We also had fun in the multi-sensory garden.

We had a great time during our farewell PEEP party!
