WELCOME BACK
After an eventful start to the term, not helped by the weather, things are now hopefully back to normal. I'd like to take this opportunity to update parents on recent policy changes in school.
In line with best practise, we regularly review our school policies to ensure they are up to date and working well. We have recently updated two important school policies
• Behaviour & Discipline
• Intimate Care Policy
Updated versions are available in our policy section, please click on the link on our home page. Alternatively a paper copy may be requested from the office.

Also a few other reminders....

Dogs
The local authority states that dogs are not allowed anywhere on the school grounds.

Smoking
Likewise smoking is not permitted anywhere in our grounds either!

Supervision
Children must be accompanied by an adult to school and collected by an adult from their teacher at the end of the school day. In preparation for middle school, Year 4 children may be allowed to walk home alone with written permission from a parent/carer. However this will be regularly reviewed on an individual child basis.

Timber Trail
All children, especially younger brothers and sisters, are not allowed to play on the timber trail at the beginning and end of the school day. This is not supervised and school cannot take responsibility for accidents or injuries.

Punctuality and Attendance
Ofsted Inspectors are very concerned about the number of children who are regularly late or have poor attendance nationally. Starting this term, there will be a drive in school to improve punctuality. If your child is late and comes through the main entrance, this will be recorded and a reason must be given. If this happens on 3 or more occasions, then you will be invited into school to discuss any problems you are experiencing and how we can help.

Jewellery
Children must not wear jewellery in school for their own health and safety. If your child has pierced ears, then they may wear small stud earrings, but they must be taken out for PE lessons. Therefore, if your child must have their ears pierced , we recommend you do this at the start of the summer holidays, to allow 6 weeks for their ears to heal, so no P lessons are missed.

Extreme Hairstyles!
A small number of children have recently attended school with dyed hair or with very creative patterns shaved into their heads. While this might be a great look for the holidays, I don't think it is appropriate for school. Therefore I would appreciate your support to maintain our smart image!

PARENT GOVERNORS
We now have two vacancies for parent governors. Please call at the school office for more information.

TERMLY OVERVIEWS
We have issued each child with their class term overview which we hope gives you an insight into what your child will be learning in school this term. If you do not have a copy please click on the overview link on the home page and find the relevant class.

DANCE & MULTI-SKILLS AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
We have two after school clubs starting next week, dance for Years 3 & 4 and multi-skills for Years 1 & 2. If your child is interested in joining these clubs please call at the school office for more information. Thank you.
