NURSERY/RECEPTION
Recent changes in the curriculum have meant that all children in Nursery and Reception are spending a great deal of their time outdoors in all weathers. We appreciate that most of our parents provide warm, waterproof clothing but that it can be distressing and time consuming to keep this clothing dry and clean. In order to overcome this problem we would like your help in raising some funds to buy waterproof trousers and coats for all our foundation stage children. We would like to invite you to our fundraising day on Thursday 12th February. Your support would be greatly appreciated as would any donations you can provide for a tombola and raffle. RECEPTION WORKSHOP
We would like to invite our Reception parents to a workshop on Tuesday 3rd February at 9.30am in our conservatory. During this session parents will be shown some strategies that are used in school when teaching early reading skills and some useful tips on hearing your child read at home. Any worries or questions you may have about reading can also be addressed at the end of the workshop. We hope to see you there.
YEAR 2 HOLY ISLAND VISIT
Our Year 2 children are visiting Holy Island on Tuesday 3rd February. If you have not already done so please return the reply slip to school as we need your consent to take your child out of school. Spare copies are available from the school office.
KEEPING UP WITH THE KIDS – LITERACY SUPPORT
Following the success of our coffee morning this week, we look forward to an excellent turn out for our parent classes which start next Thursday, 9.00 – 10.30am. A free crèche facility is available on site for parents with pre-school age children.
YEAR 1 ACTIVITY MORNING
Our Year 1 children are holding an activity morning on Thursday 12th February at 10.00am when you are invited into our school to join your child in their class activity. We hope to see you there.
VALENTINE’S DISCO
We are holding a ‘Valentine’s Disco’ on Thursday 12th February from 5.30 – 7.00pm. There will be a tuck shop, hot dogs and a children’s raffle during the event. Tickets cost £1.50 and are available from the school office from Wednesday 4th February. This event is for main school children who can attend without an adult as staff will be on duty.
STEPPING STONES
Just a reminder to those parents of our Year 2 children who attend our ‘Stepping Stones Reading Group’, the group will not be on next Tuesday 3rd February as the class are visiting Holy Island. The group will resume on Tuesday 10th February at 2.15pm.
HEAD LICE
Cases of head lice have been found in our school this week. Could we please stress the importance of checking your child’s hair regularly.
FOOD LOCAL FOOD
We need to place the order for the grocery bags again on Tuesday, so if you would like a grocery bag ready for the weekend please call at the school office no later than Tuesday morning.
