COMMON APPLICATION FORMS
For parents/carers of Nursery and Year 4 children – all application forms must be in by Friday 24th October 2008 so that the LEA Schools Admissions team are able to offer your child a place in the first or middle school of your choice for September 2009. Application forms can also be filled in online at www.northumberland.gov.uk. Delays in filling in the form may result in your child not obtaining a place at their preferred school.
MEDICATION IN SCHOOL
A reminder that it is school policy that children do not bring throat lozenges or cough sweets into school. The only medication permitted is medicine prescribed by the doctor which is to be taken 4 times a day (3 times can be taken before school, after school and bed time). In such cases parents are requested to complete a medication form available from the office. Thank you for your cooperation.
HALLOWEEN DISCO
We are holding a Halloween Disco on Thursday 23rd October from 5.30 – 7.00pm for children in main school. Children may come unaccompanied but must be collected by an adult. Tickets cost £1.50 and are on sale now from the school office. Refreshments will be available to purchase during the event and fancy dress is optional but there will be prizes for the best dressed.
HARVEST THANKS
Thank you to everyone who attended our Harvest services at Bedlington Colliery Methodist Church and also to those who donated food items for our Harvest gift bags which have been distributed to lots of local needy people.
CHRISTMAS SHOW AT NORTHERN STAGE
As detailed in a previous newsletter, on Wednesday 10th December we are hoping to take Years 1, 2, 3 & 4 to a Christmas performance of Hansel & Gretel at the Northern Stage Theatre in Newcastle. We are asking for a contribution from you of £8.50 to cover the cost of the seat and school fund will pay for the coach. This is the perfect opportunity for your child to witness live theatre. Unfortunately if your child does not return the consent form and payment before Wednesday 22nd October 2008, they will not be able to attend. ‘LOOKING AFTER OURSELVES’ WEEK
All of next week is ‘Looking After Ourselves’ week at Stead Lane and the children will be taking part in various activities so will need their full P.E. kit every day, suitable for indoors and outdoors. We are always trying to encourage the children to eat healthily and next week will be awarding the healthiest packed lunch with a prize. We have various leaflets to share with parents/carers and these will be displayed every day at 3.00pm in the hall.
KINGSWOOD
Regretfully we will have to cancel our proposed visit to Kingswood next summer as we are just short of the minimum number of places needed to make the visit cost effective. Deposits will be refunded in full and we will try again for summer 2010.
HEAD LICE
There have been more cases of head lice reported around school. Please check your child’s hair regularly and report any cases to a member of staff. Thank you for your cooperation.
